Welcome to the Michigan Club Wrestling Website!

We, the officers of the Michigan Club Wrestling team, are glad you found our site! We would love to help and have you join our club, so we have compiled answers to some of our most common questions below.

FAQ

What is the Michigan Men's and Women's Club Wrestling Team?

The Michigan Men's and Women's Club Wrestling Team is a student-led organization dedicated to providing students an opportunity to wrestle at the collegiate level. Our members are comprised of wrestlers with experience ranging from lifelong wrestlers to ones just starting out. We welcome everyone; veterans, beginners, and anything in between. We compete under the NCWA and have competitions in Michigan and the surrounding states. Our season concludes at the NCWA National Tournament in mid-March.

How do I Participate/Join?

To participate in practices, wrestlers must have an approved participation agreement. To fill this out, you must go to our Maize Page and sign in with your umich account. Once you are signed in to your umich account, you will be able to see our participation agreement under "forms". A couple of business days after submitting it, you will receive an email notifying you if your PA was approved or denied.

Once you receive an email confirming that your participation agreement was approved you are good to come to practice at any point in the school year.

If your participation agreement was denied; fix what was wrong with it and resubmit it.

When is Practice?

Where is Practice?

We have the honor of practicing at the same practice space as Michigan's NCAA D1 team at the Bahna Wrestling Center, which is one of the highest-quality wrestling facilities in the nation. The facility is located south of campus in the Ross Athletic Campus.

Do I have to join by a certain date?

Nope! We don't do tryouts and most of our competitions are individual tournaments, so we will happily accept new members at any point in the year. Additionally, we really want to make sure we are as accessible as possible, so you can test things out with a few free practices before deciding whether or not to become a member. Please reach out to the club if you think you might be interested.

Do I have to Compete? Do I have to attend a certain amount of practices?

If you do not wish to compete you do not need to and we do not require attendance at practices. We understand that members have many different reasons for joining the club and are also very busy at times, so after club dues are paid you can show up to as many or as few practices and competitions as they'd like.

Is there a Women's Team?

Yes, we are a co-ed club! During the 2021-22 season, we had Michigan's first competitive women's team, as well as our first two women's national qualifiers! All of our practices are joint practices, so both the men's and women's sides of the team practice at the same times described below. We are excited to continue our recent success with the women's team and we are looking forward to growing the women's side of the team even bigger this year!

What are the costs?

Other Participation Requirements? - Positive Impact Training

By the end of the school year, all members in the club must complete a Positive Impact Training Session. If you completed one in the previous school year, you do not have to complete one this year. If you have not completed one this school year or you completed one before last school year; register for an upcoming session using this link: https://sessions.studentlife.umich.edu/login?r=/track/event/16903.

Note: Spots for PIT sessions fill up fast, so if you plan on wrestling with the club sign up for a session ASAP.
