Examining the brain to find sources of cognitive decline and resilience to dementia is my foremost research interest. As a Postbacc in the Kaczorowski Lab, I had the opportunity to do just this by investigating cognitive function and MRI markers of structural and functional brain health in genetically diverse mouse models of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Our data has revealed that genetic diversity is a strong driver of brain microstructure and overshadows effects of familial human AD transgenes on this trait. Moving forward, I aim to further characterize the relationship between brain composition, neurophysiology, and resilience to AD through immunohistochemistry and fMRI studies through ongoing efforts with the Kaczorowski family!
