Graduate Association of Political Scientists

Who is GAPS? 

GAPS is a student-led organization at the University of Michigan that serves as a bridge between the graduate student community and the broader political science department. In addition to advocacy, we host events and distribute resources for grad student success. 

The current GAPS presidents are Ben Goehring, Nicholas Birdsong, and Tim Arvan. 

What can GAPS do for me? 

• Voice grad student opinions to faculty and staff

• Gather and distribute information for grad students. Examples of this include:

  • Affinity group events

  • Speaker series

  • Professional development

  • Organization efforts across campus
