What motivates you every day?

My parents. You know, being first gen, my parents don’t know much. The journey to America was incredibly hard for them. Having what they have now is what motivates me, you know? I’m going to keep trying really hard.

I am curious what your relationship is with this idea of becoming an adult. Is that a scary concept to you?

I had to grow up very fast, so it's not scary to me. Maybe when I was a teenager, yes. But now as I’m older, it's not as hard. I'm still a growing person, so I'm still reaching adulthood. But it’s not as scary as I used to interpret it.

Do you have any techniques or specific discoveries that have helped the transition into adulthood not be so daunting?

I think it varies. I think after you live through certain experiences, being able to find people to connect with is what helps make that anxiety go away. Someone else will help you realize that it's not as bad as you're making it out to be. Connecting with others is always helpful and very important to me.

So, connection means a lot to you. What else do you personally regard as important in your life?

Like, broadly? I think believing in yourself is very important. Also finding time to reevaluate yourself. I think a lot of times, we're all just so busy, and constantly moving. It’s like we find time for friends, but we don't really find time for ourselves. And so I think that's very important, just finding time for yourself to evaluate everything. How you feel, you know? There are times I feel like I'm not me. And I remember this quote, “if you don't feel like yourself, it means you’re growing.” I love that. That reminder makes me feel a little bit better. Honestly, it’s like I don't really feel like myself anymore. Like, I look around where I'm at, and I’m like, this is weird, like, I've never thought I'd see myself here. It just doesn't feel like me. But I always come to the realization, yeah, it’s because you’re changing, you’re growing. I think it's very important to just sit and think. What's going on with yourself? How are you really feeling? Being mindful.

Is there a question you feel like you are still searching for the answer for?

Yes. I think I will always be searching for an answer. Regardless of my age or what stage of life I’m in, I think I'll always look for something.

Do you think curiosity is important?

Yeah, for sure. I think so. It's always good to question things. It doesn't matter if you think this is okay, it's always good to ask yourself if there is a different way of looking at things. I think that’s important. And I think I will always be looking for an answer.

I think that is beautiful.

Me too. Besides my parents, that is what keeps me going.
