The Extreme Astrophysics Group (EAG) brings together people in the Department of Astronomy at University of Michigan who are broadly interested in extreme astrophysics and the relevant science. Our areas include high-energy astrophysics, the accretion and evolution of compact objects (black holes at all mass scales, neutron stars, and white dwarfs), galaxy clusters, etc.
We meet together at 11 AM every Thursday (Eastern time). The meetings locate in 302 West hall (a.k.a. Serpens). We host in-person or remote research talks each meeting. We may also have other formats, including conference reports, proposal brainstorming, paper discussions, and blackboard talks. In-progress works and open questions are encouraged.
Visitors are very welcome to give talks in our meetings. Please contact Doyee Byun (doyeeb@umich.edu) or Dieu Nguyen (dieun@umich.edu) to schedule presentations. For scheduled visitors, please send your talk titles and abstracts around one week ahead. We can also circulate your additional notes to our department members, such as your google-sheet schedules for others to sign up meetings with you during your visits. Feel free to reach us for any questions.
