CBD: Arena District

Arena Portion of the Central Business District and Midtown

Our study analyzes the past and present built environment which is currently home to the major sports arenas in the downtown Detroit area, which we call the Arena District. New developments are currently planned and being implemented to revitalize the lower Midtown area of Detroit as well as the portions of the Central Business District near the Fisher Freeway. Our study includes sites currently under development by entities such as Bedrock (Dan Gilbert) and Illitch Holdings (Illitch family) who are currently attempting to revitalize the area with new commercial interests, housing stock and transit improvements.

The Arena Tax District capture zone as part of the Downtown Development Authority is largely responsible for the development projects taking place in our zone.
