2025 UMich Student Chapter Association for Women in Mathematics Mini-Conference
Hosted by the University of Michigan's AWM Student Chapter
Hosted by the University of Michigan's AWM Student Chapter
Update on 2/5/2025: At this time, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the mini-conference. Unfortunately, due to a lack of registrants from outside of the University of Michigan community, the conference has lost its primary purpose of building connections among women in mathematics from different institutions in the area. We truly appreciate the enthusiasm and support from those who registered, and we hope to create similar opportunities in the future to strengthen our community!
The AWM student chapter at the University of Michigan is hosting the 2025 UMich Student Chapter AWM Mini-Conference in Mathematics on February 22nd, 2025. Sponsored by the University of Michigan's Math Department, this conference will provide an opportunity for women and gender-nonconforming individuals in mathematics in Michigan to get to know each other on a personal as well as professional level.
Our aim is to create a network of mathematicians in the southeast Michigan/northwest Ohio region in order to nurture collaborations and provide a framework for mentoring. These relationships can facilitate mathematicians branching into new areas of mathematics, exploring the variety of ways of contributing mathematically to society and the profession, and maintaining a healthy, balanced life.
Attendees of this conference will:
Learn about the research of women and gender-nonconforming mathematicians in Michigan
Present their work in a supportive environment
Network with other Michigan mathematicians (students, faculty, and industry professionals)
Explore issues surrounding being a woman and gender minority in mathematics
All are welcome to register using the "Register" tab. Spots are limited!
