        • 5:30-7:30pm - Welcome Reception (Lurie Engineering Center - 1221 Beal Ave., Ann Arbor, MI 48109)
    • Day 2: Thursday, January 17, 2019 (8am-6pm)
        • 8:00am-4:00pm: Joint Workshop (Palmer Commons, 4th Floor, Great Lakes Room, 100 Washtenaw Ave., Ann Arbor, MI 48109)
        • 4:00pm-6:00pm: Reception & Poster Session (Heavy hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine will be served)

Hotels:

  • The Bell Tower - Located on Central campus. 5 minute drive and 10 walk to Palmer Commons.
          • Rates: Starting at $175/per night (plus taxes and fees).
                • Reservations may be made thru the hotel website with group code 341662 or by calling 800-562-3559 and requesting the TOYOTA RESEARCH INSTITUTE JOINT WORKSHOP. Reservations must be made by Dec. 17, 2018 to receive discounted rate.
  • The Graduate Hotel - Located near Central camps. 5 minute drive and 10 walk to Palmer Commons
                • When making reservations online be sure to check the 'Advanced Search' and SELECT THE "UNIVERSITY/ALUMNI VISITORS" under 'Rates'.
  • Holiday Inn located near the University of Michigan's North Campus on Plymouth Rd - 12 minute drive (walking is not encouraged) to Palmer Commons. Hotel will provide complimentary shuttle service to campus with advanced notice. Reservations must be made by January 1, 2019 to receive discounted rates.
          • Rates: Starting at $114/night (plus taxes and fees)

Shuttle service

Complimentary Shuttle Service will be provided Wednesday, January 16 to all lab tours, demos and the Welcome Reception. Guests can also be taken by shuttle back to their hotel rooms after the Welcome Reception.


Please note: The Welcome Reception is a short walk from GG Brown (CASSIE demo) and ERB II (Robots Demos).

Lab Tours & Demo Information


CASSIE: A Tougher, Lighter Bipedal Robot with Eyes: Bipedal robot programmed to walk unassisted over rough terrain, walk through fire, ride a Segway, and map the new Robotics building.

Ride in Connected Automated Car and See Mcity: See Mcity, a test facility for connected and automated cars, and demos of self-driving cars. The demos will include automatic path planning, dynamic interactions with road users, and preview motion control.

Manipulating Piles of Stuff: See a two-arm robot searching through a pile of objects to find a target one.
