UMD LUNCHTIME ULTIMATE FRISBEE PICK-UP!

Who Can Play:

We’re faculty, staff, and students with a wide range of age and experience.  Anyone in the UMD campus community is welcome to play.

When We Play:

We generally meet at noon on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays but we sometimes alter the time or day based on interest, weather forecast, or field availability.

Where We Play:

We usually play on the LaPlata Beach turf field in front of the Eppley Recreation Center, highlighted in red on the map.  When the weather is unfit for playing or if the field is in use, we sometimes play in the volleyball gym in the School of Public Health building (SPH 2101), highlighted in yellow.

While the use of the turf field is first-come first-serve, our lunchtime game has existed there dependably for decades.  Though it’s extremely rare, please know it is possible that we get there and neither the field nor the gym is available and we can’t play.

How it Works:

We use a UMD email group for quorum calls each game day and call GAME ON once we get a minimum of 8 players; 11:00 a.m. is the soft deadline for getting enough players by noon.  Our email group is not a discussion board so please be respectful and brief.

You’ll need light and dark shirts, water, and proper footwear.

Feel free to join us if you see us out there or contact Paul Fagiolo (pfagiolo@umd.edu) for more information and/or game status.

More Details on Game Play:

For the most part, we follow the simple rules (and certainly the spirit) of Ultimate Frisbee (see https://usaultimate.org/rules/) but we do a few things differently:
