Off-Campus Housing Services
Where are you located and when are you open?
The Off-Campus Housing Services office provides resources. to students and the University Community to educate them on off-campus housing topics and assist them in finding off-campus housing. Please visit their website here!

Are there off-campus housing options that the University works with?
There is an abundance of Off-Campus Housing options in the surrounding community and the College Park area. You can view the Off-Campus Housing Database. to gain more information about available options.
Housing at The Courtyards and South Campus Commons
The Courtyards and South Campus Commons are public-private partnership apartment communities located at the University of Maryland, and owned and managed by a private management company in partnership with the University. Students living in these communities sign leases (mid-August through July) with Capstone On-Campus Management.
Immediate opportunities for the Spring are available for students to sign leases at South Campus Commons or the Courtyards through the “releasing” process; a process where a current lease-holder who no longer needs housing is able to transfer their lease to another student. Applying to South Campus Commons and The Courtyards at UMD for Fall or Spring
If you are interested in re-leasing in South Campus Commons or The Courtyards, follow these steps:
1 - Complete the no-obligation Commons/Courtyards Leasing application by logging into the Housing Portal
2- After completing the application, indicate your property preference by filling out the
“Commons/Courtyards Leasing Interest Form” found under “Other Forms and Links” in the Housing Portal. Current leaseholders are able to request access to this list and reach out directly to those who are interested.
3-For additional Re-leasing Information please visit: http://reslife.umd.edu/housing/commonscourtyards/releasing/
In addition to completing the Commons/Courtyards Leasing Interest Form, we encourage you to search the Off-Campus Housing Service's Off-Campus Housing Database
for re-leasing opportunities at South Campus Commons and The Courtyards. To search for these listings, click on the Housing Tab and use the Text Search option to filter for the South Campus Commons or Courtyards apartment communities.

Are there off-campus housing options that the University works with?
All students are eligible to register for on-campus parking. In advance of registering, please view the list of student permit types and their associated fees. Registration for fall and annual permits for the 2021 - 2022 academic permits opens a rolling basis according to credit level beginning in July.

Are there off-campus housing options that the University works with?
Any student, including first-year resident students are eligible for on-campus parking.
When does parking registration open?
Registration for Fall and annual permits opens on a rolling basis according to credit level starting in late July. Here are the dates
July 22 at 10 AM: Graduate student registration begins online
July 29 at 10 AM: Online registration for anyone with 90+ credits
August 5 at 10 AM: Online registration for anyone with 60+ credits
August 12 at 10 AM: Online registration for all eligible students

Where does Shuttle-UM go?
Shuttle-UM has routes that run across campus, to the College Park Metro station and many of the surrounding areas including Hyattsville, Greenbelt, Silver Spring, Adelphi, and further out to Columbia and Gaithersburg
How does Shuttle-UM work?
Shuttle-UM is fare-free. All you need is your University ID for the off-campus routes, oherwise, you can hop on and hop off Shuttle-UM whenever you need. You can become a Shuttle-UM pro by reading through our Rider Guide at go.umd.edu/rider-guide
Is overnight transportation available?
Late-night transporation is available with NITE Ride. NITE Ride is an on-demand service that runs from 5:30 PM to 7:30 AM daily when the University is open Download the TransLoc app here to call a NITE Ride.
I'm new to riding transit. Any suggestions on how to get started?

Smart Commute is our sustainable tranpsotation program. With the universities climate action plan being accelerated to 2025, sustainable transportation is more important than ever. Sustainable transportation includes: biking, walking, carpooling and taking transit. Our Smart Commute online platform allows you to find sustainable methods near you and rewards you for making sustainable choices.
Transfer & Off-Campus Student Life
Who does Transfer and Off-Campus Student Life (TOCSL) serve?
TOCSL serves transfer and off-campus students. Transfer students are students who have transferred from community college or a four-year institution to the University of Maryland. Off-campus students are students who do not live in residence halls on-campus. Off-campus students either live in an apartment or home near campus or commute from another city or town.
How do I get involved with TOCSL?
During the academic year, TOCSL offers 2-3 programs a month for transfer and off-campus students to attend. These programs strive to provide transfer and off-campus students with an opportunity to connect with other students and campus resources. TOCSL offers many different types of programs. Some of the events that we have offered in the past have been:

Where is the TOCSL office located?
The TOCSL office is located in the Student Engagement suite, which is on the ground floor of the Adele H. Stamp Student Union in a hallway behind the Panda Express, across from the University Bookstore, and next to the stairwell down to Subway.
How do I make an appointment with the Coordinator for Transfer and Off-Campus Student Life?
The Coordinator for Transfer and Off-Campus Student Life is Laura Widener. You can email her to set up a time to meet at lwidener@umd.edu.
What is Transfer2Terp (T2T)? How do I register for this course?
HESI 310 - Transfer2Terp (T2T) is an upper-level three-credit course for transfer students to learn about their strengths, gain knowledge on campus resources, and build a community amongst other transfer students. If you want to take this course, discuss your interest with your advisor at orientation. Then, email tocsl@umd.edu for class permission.
Where can I find a place to study?
There are many places on campus to study, including the Student Engagement suite where TOCSL is located. Other popular study spots on campus are McKeldin Library, Hornbake Library, and Edward St. John Learning and Teaching Center (ESJ).
