My name is Miracle Etim-Andy and I am a PhD student in Information Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. I am a member of the Community Research, Equity, and Design (CReED) Collective where I am advised by Dr. Sheena Erete.
My research interest lays at the intersection of advocacy for minoritized communities and equitable technological innovation. My research focus includes the co-creating and co-evaluating technologies to support Black and Brown community wellness as well as designing culturally competent and ethical AI tools. My current research project works with non-profit organizations that serve Black and Brown communities to understand how they use AI to support their organizational workflow.
I received my bachelor’s degree from Catawba College in May 2023 where I majored in Exercise Science with minors in Computer Science and Interdisciplinary Data Science. My previous research endeavors include examining the usage of wrist-worn wearable technology and exoskeletons for health and human performance in collegiate athletes and older adults.
