Liam Puknys Economics PhD Student University of Maryland
I am an economics PhD student at the University of Maryland, College Park. My research lies at the intersection of child development and labor econometrics, spanning education, intergenerational mobility, and neighborhood effects.
I grew up in San Francisco, California, and received B.A. degrees in mathematics and economics from the University of Chicago in 2020. Before beginning my PhD, I spent three years as a research assistant at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. I am currently an Adam Smith Fellow at the Mercatus Center and a member of the Economics Graduate Student Association at the University of Maryland.
Outside of my academic work, I serve as Continuing Ministry Coordinator for Kairos Prison Ministry at a medium security prison in Maryland.
