Liam Puknys Economics PhD Student University of Maryland
I am an economics PhD student at the University of Maryland, College Park. I research intergenerational mobility and related fields such as education, skill formation, immigration, and neighborhood effects through both a theoretical and empirical lens.
I grew up in San Francisco, California, and graduated from the University of Chicago in 2020 with BA degrees in mathematics and economics. Prior to my PhD studies, I worked for three years as a research assistant at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. I am currently an Adam Smith Fellow at the Mercatus Center and a member of the Economics Graduate Student Association at the University of Maryland.
Apart from professional activities, I enjoy singing and running elaborate Dungeons and Dragons games. I also serve in Kairos Prison Ministry and co-lead a young adult bible study group.
