Course Synopsis

This short course develops students’ understanding in digital literacy skills focusing on information evaluation to curb the issue of online falsehood that now has turned into a problem for the digital society. So that they can become effective and efficient users of information on various digital platforms. They will articulate the skills & dispositions needed to function effectively in the digital space. These essential skills will contribute to the academic success as well as create a foundation for lifelong learning. Therefore, this course focus on introducing strategic use of various information sources; incorporating sources and avoiding plagiarism; communication and collaboration in digital platform; digital content creation including copyright and licenses; safety including protecting personal data and privacy.

The Expert

DR. SAMSUL FARID SAMSUDDIN

Dr. Samsul Farid Bin Samsuddin is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Library & Information Science (LIS), Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He is as an experienced Academic Librarian in Cataloging and Library Services before joining UM in 2018. His research interests focus on library services, library management, user behaviour, rural libraries, ICT for development, and community development. He is active in teaching, research and publications. His expertise in Systematic Literature Review (SLR) has facilitate postgraduate students and early carrier researchers in their Scholarly Publications.
