The Liggett Approach in Action
Steeped in the eleven tenets of Liggett’s approach to education, the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) at University Liggett School provides opportunities for learners to perform deep dives into twenty-first century skills, examine how they can be used in authentic situations, and build upon existing programming and ideas in order to advance an organization’s mission or an educator’s practice.
CITL helps partner organizations and individuals develop the agency needed to tackle problems, turn ideas into actions, and think outside the box. Partners will work with content and pedagogical experts to utilize educational best practices such as design thinking, project-based learning, thinking routines, constructivism, and authentic instruction to enhance their practices.
Individuals and organizations can partner with the CITL by attending workshops, engaging with consulting services, and accessing print and digital curriculum resources.
Professional Development Workshops
CITL provides workshops throughout the school year and summer designed to:
Perform deep dives into the application of twenty-first century skills.
Apply those skills in authentic situations.
Build upon existing programming and ideas in order to advance an organization’s mission or an educator’s practice.
Crafted by CITL experts, these unique experiences are offered regularly for individuals and teams to come together around an authentic, immersive deep dive around a common theme. These experiences occur around the metropolitan Detroit area.
