Abstract

The online learning system during the COVID-19 pandemic has caused mental problems for all learners, including university students. If it occurs over a prolonged period, academic stress is likely to happen. If this academic stress cannot be overcome, the accomplishment will be even more difficult for students to achieve. Therefore, students' resilience is crucially needed, especially related to academic activities in overcoming academic difficulties such as academic stress. Thus, this study aims to identify the relationship between students' academic resilience and academic stress. The method used is quantitative with a correlational design. A total of 304 students participated in this study using the incidental sampling technique. The research measurement used the Academic Resilience Scale (α = 0.861) and the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents (α = 0.841). The research data analysis method used a correlation test from Spearman Rho'. The result shows that no significant negative relationship between academic resilience and stress was found in students (r = 0.006 and sig. = 0.460). This indicates that academic resilience is not one of the factors related to the increasing or decreasing academic stress level experienced by students. They must learn to enjoy every learning situation experienced to apply the right coping stress that comes from within them and by searching and finding in the surroundings.
