Week Without Walls
Week Without Walls is a curriculum-based, Adventure Education program offered to Middle School and Secondary School students at Kyiv International School.
Adventure Education is an experiential learning process that takes place in a variety of outdoor settings and provides opportunities for physical and emotional growth; community building; and leadership development.
Adventure Education experiences get students out of the classroom and challenges them to take on new experiences: camping; caving; climbing; extreme sports; farming; horseback riding; kayaking; rafting; sailing; service learning; touring; trekking; and windsurfing.
These experiences are a great tool for reinforcing the QSI Success Orientations, developing leadership skills, and nurturing positive group dynamics.
The theme of the 2019 Week Without Walls program is "Explore Ukraine".
This theme aligns with the QSI Philosophy of Cultural Awareness - "We believe emphasis should be placed on gaining an appreciation and knowledge of the region and the local country in particular".
Students spend Week Without Walls exploring the mountains, valleys, rivers, beaches, lakes, and heritage sites of this beautiful country we call home.
All secondary students who successfully complete a Week Without Walls course are eligible to receive academic credit either through one of the QSI Experiential Learning, Cultural Studies, or Physical Education Lifetime Sports curriculums.
