College students often find themselves the target of phishing scams. Collect school supplies as you consider how to handle each of the scenarios below. The number of each supply your collect will be the code. For example, if you collect 2 notebooks, 1 highlighter, 7 pens, and 4 pencils, your code will be 2174.
You receive an email notification that your UIS account will expire in 24 hours with a link to reactive your account.
Collect 4 notebooks if you hover over the link to make sure it is legitimate before clicking and/or contact ITS to confirm.
Collect 3 notebooks if you click right away because you don't want to lose access to your account.
You receive an email with an attachment about a job offer to make $500 a week for 2 hours of work.
Collect 2 highlighters if you open the attachment because you could really use the extra cash.
Collect 3 highlighters if you notice that this offer seems too good to be true and delete the email.
You receive an email from Amazon asking to confirm your address and birthdate.
Collect 8 pens if you log into Amazon on your own to see if there is a notification about needing to confirm any personal information.
Collect 6 pens if you click the link to confirm your personal information because you shop from Amazon all the time and the Amazon logo is in the email.
You receive an email from your supervisor with a link to a shared Google Doc.
Collect 1 pencil if you check the From address to ensure it's a legitimate email address or reach out to your supervisor to confirm that something was shared with you.
Collect 2 pencils if you click the link because you want to do as your supervisor requested.
