Abstract:
The article is dedicated to the analysis of the regulatory framework governing pharmaceutical education in the United Kingdom. It has been established that the quality of pharmaceutical education in the UK is ensured through the implementation of laws, internal standards, and regulations, as well as being monitored by relevant councils, expert committees, departments, and societies. The main objective of this system is to guarantee that the training of pharmacists meets high standards that ensure the safety and effectiveness of pharmaceutical services.
The regulation of the quality of pharmaceutical education and professional training of pharmacists is carried out through a series of regulatory and reporting documents, among which the following stand out: the «Professional Standards for Pharmacists», the «Standards for the Initial Education and Training of Pharmacists», and the «Pharmaceutical Education Development Strategy for 2021–2026». It is noted that the UK's pharmaceutical sector is overseen by several key bodies responsible for regulation, development, and oversight in this field, including the General Pharmaceutical Council and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.
It has been established that the regulatory framework governing the activities of universities and the pharmaceutical sector in the UK is complex and extensive. Pharmacists are required to adhere to nine core standards in their professional practice. The key regulatory documents governing the activities of UK universities and the legislation in the field of pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical education have been analyzed. The article also outlines the priority areas of educational policy that regulate relations between secondary and higher educational institutions, as well as coordinate the financial and educational activities of universities.
The conclusion is made that ensuring high-quality and effective professional training of pharmacists in the UK university system is made possible through the organic interaction of all levels: legislative, managerial, structural-institutional, organizational-pedagogical, and socio-economic.
