Abstract:
The article explores the possibilities and specificities of preparing primary school teachers for the implementation of educational innovations. It highlights the features of teacher training in higher education institutions with a focus on integrating educational innovations into their professional activities. For the first time, it presents the directions and tasks of the «Concept of Innovative Transformation of the Institute of Pedagogical Education, Social Work, and Art» at Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy. The main directions of innovative transformation are defined as: educational activities; scientific activities; international cooperation; youth policy; resource provision.
The analysis of the readiness of primary school teachers for innovative pedagogical activity considering it as a specific personal state is conducted. It implies that the future teacher possesses a motivational and value-based attitude towards professional activity, mastery of effective methods and means to achieve pedagogical goals, and the ability for creativity and reflection. The components of the innovative competence of a primary school teacher are identified: awareness of innovative pedagogical technologies, proper mastery of their content and methodology, a high culture of using innovations in the educational process, and personal conviction in the necessity of applying innovative pedagogical technologies.
An analysis of innovative approaches that can be used by primary school teachers in working with young students is provided. The article also discusses the role of the most popular innovative tools in working with young students, including AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ChatGPT. So, artificial intelligence can be useful to a primary school teacher not only for planning and organizing lessons, but also for use in teaching primary school-aged students by creating interactive and individualized learning programs.
