Abstract:
The article is devoted to the genre of children’s opera in the works of Ukrainian diaspora composers V. Bezkorovainyi, E. Zvozdetskyi, E. О. Sadovskyi, and S. Turkevych-Lukiyanovych. The purpose of the article is to analyze the development of the genre of children’s opera in the works of composers of the Western diaspora and to determine the trajectory of using this information in the educational process and research in higher education institutions of Ukraine.
The research methodology is based on a combination of historical-dialectical, historical-systemic, comparative and art historical principles of analysis: the historical-dialectical principle makes it possible to identify and trace the genesis and characteristics of the main trends in the development of the children’s opera genre in the diaspora; the historicalsystemic principle involves the study of the development of this genre in close connection with the socio-historical context; the comparative method is used to characterize the works of different composers of this genre; the art historical method is directly applied to the study of the genre. Based on the analysis of children’s operas by diaspora composers, the article analyzes their comparative analysis, identifies genre features and summarizes the stylistic principles, statics and dynamics of the genre.
Given the analysis, it has been established that the genre of children’s opera by diaspora composers in the second half of the twentieth century developed more actively than in Ukraine, and the return of the best of them to Ukraine and their actualization in educational, musical and artistic activities will help improve the aesthetic education of children and youth, and will be a powerful means of forming a creative personality. The playful elements of children’s operas, opportunities for vocal, rhythmic, and dance improvisations will contribute to the realization of children’s creative abilities.
The introduction of children’s opera into the disciplines of music education methods, history of musical culture of Ukraine and the diaspora, music pedagogy, choral conducting, solo singing, special and additional instruments, and concertmaster classes in higher education institutions will not only enrich the content of the courses, but will also contribute to better preparation of specialists for future practical work with children. Research on this issue in articles by students, graduate students and university professors, qualification papers (bachelor’s, master’s), dissertations for the degree of doctor of philosophy will expand the field of Ukrainian science, help develop methodological and methodological guidelines for specialists.
