Abstract:

In the realities of contemporary Ukraine, the musical environment has become an area of heightened artistic attention towards the research, interpretation, and integration into the educational curriculum of artifacts/documents/ musical works/personalities belonging to the field of musical regionalism/local studies. For the future musician, expressions like «patriotism», «national orientation», and the «Ukrainian idea» are associated with the sonic space – musical works in performance, educational, and concert programs.

The conscious integration of information about the formation of artistic processes in the region into music education is relevant. Genetically, each subsequent generation of musicians is united in the unified informational-factual field of Ukrainian art. The formation of phenomena of national culture occurs with the participation of all members of the educational process: students, teachers, and pupils of pedagogical studios.

The use of the local studies method in the educational process involves two stages. The first is a comprehensive study of the artistic history of the region and the accumulation of material on regional studies. The second is the use of accumulated information in the study of Ukrainian music literature.

The main vectors of using the local studies method should be considered in three directions: classroom (lectures, discussions, practical classes, independent work, creative tasks, interactive forms); excursion-museum (city tours, museum visits); extracurricular (research and performance forms).

The local studies method in an artistic educational institution serves as a progressive form of modernizing contemporary art education in the field of musicological subjects. The national-regional component serves as a conceptual link between Ukrainian nationwide statements about patriotism and a specific vision, the visualization of musical-historical processes. Through the direct performance of works, it «revives» epochal «distant» musical samples for students, acquaints them with figures of Ukrainian art, «humanizes» their personas, and brings them closer to comprehension by contemporary knowledge seekers.
