Abstract:
The article actualizes the need for the formation of emotional competence of the individual in the context of general secondary and specialized art education. Military events in Ukraine accumulate national education to the search for new approaches to teaching children and youth, which would help modern Ukrainian citizens to learn how to manage their own emotional states and anticipate the emotional reactions of people around them. One of these ways we see in the introduction in the process of musical learning institutions of art specialized and general secondary education methods and techniques of music therapy as a means of self-regulation and prevention of emotional states of children and youth.
The article is aimed at highlighting the essential characteristics of emotional competence and ways of its formation in the context of general and specialized art education of children and youth.
The study uses methods of theoretical and critical analysis of scientific research of domestic and foreign scientists, synthesis of the information obtained, abstraction, concretization, etc. As a result of the study, emotional competence is defined as the readiness and ability of an individual to manage emotional reactions flexibly. It is about managing your own emotions and the emotions of other people, about managing adequate to changing situations and conditions. The essential characteristics of emotional competence are revealed. Among them are psychological poise and the ability to remain calm in difficult situations; good organization, the ability to avoid emotional burnout, even in the presence of physical and emotional stress; understanding the emotions of other people, the ability to work in a team; ability to selfmotivation; leadership, the ability to inspire and encourage other people.
The study of the essence of emotional competence outlined the question of the development of emotional intelligence, since individuals with a high level of emotional intelligence are marked by empathy. Emotional selfawareness helps to realize and manage one’s own emotional state, which is the key to mental and physical health of an individual. The study also raises the problem of emotional self-regulation and emotional well-being of children and youth as a necessary component of emotional compassion. Scientific searches contributed to the justification and development of methods for the formation of emotional competence of children and youth in the system of general and specialized art education. The practical significance of the study aims to deepen the theoretical and methodological knowledge base on the essence and content of the emotional competence of teachers of art schools and teachers of musical art. The study reveals the importance of teacher awareness in the concepts of emotional intelligence, emotional self-regulation and emotional well-being of children and youth in institutions of general secondary education.
