Abstract:
The article attempts to use the innovative Google Trends search tool to assess interest in medical and higher medical education in different regions of Ukraine and different countries.
The level of internationalization of higher education is increasing, particularly in medical education. This study was carried out using a comparative analysis of search queries in Ukraine during the year (February 2020-March 2021), as well as for the period (October 2022 to September 2023). The second part of the task highlights the international aspect of determining search interest in four countries – Mongolia, Moldova, Armenia and Georgia, where the monopoly concentration of institutions of higher medical education is in the capitals.
For research and analysis, the words «doctor», medical education and higher medical education in the Ukrainian language were used in time for two annual periods (pre-war and during martial law) and the distribution of the top 5 regions in relation to the first, provided by the Google Trends system, was presented.
A regional assessment of interest in higher medical education in the world was carried out. The search was carried out for the English-speaking audience of the term «Higher medical education» for the last year (as of December 1, 2023).
Statistically significant are requests from four countries – India, the Philippines, the USA and Great Britain. For a more extensive search, educational medical systems of four other countries from different parts of the world - Mongolia, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia - were selected.
In general, it should be noted a uniformly low level of interest in searching for the topic medical education, in relation to the level of search activity for the topic doctor, The applied modern information tool Google Trends is attractive and easy to use for actual determination of consumer interest in medicine, medical professions, higher education and other related components. The conducted assessments provide the necessary quantitative basis for the analysis of the transformations taking place in the educational medical field.
Keywords: professional competence, medical education, higher medical education, doctor, Google Trends, search interest.
