Abstract:
The article reveals the role of extracurricular activities in physical education of schoolchildren in strengthening their health based on the analysis of scientists’ works. An analysis of the content of extracurricular work on physical education of secondary school students was carried out, the main forms of organization of extracurricular work were identified, and the peculiarities of the organization of extracurricular work on physical culture in general secondary education institutions were considered.
The article also highlights the peculiarities of the organization of extracurricular work in physical culture in general secondary education institutions and considers various forms of organizing collective and individual extracurricular activities outside the main working day of the school. It was found that extracurricular work in physical education is aimed at adapting students to the educational process, strengthening health, increasing physical capacity, improving physical development and arming with life-motor skills and skills, acquiring knowledge about a healthy lifestyle and the need for systematic physical education exercises.
Physical education of students in institutions of general secondary education is focused on solving the following tasks: development of individual abilities, formation of motivation for classes, education of a patriotic citizen, mastering of vital motor skills and skills, increasing the energy potential of students, for successful socialization, civic activity, choosing an individual trajectory of self-realization in future professional training and activities.
Thus, extracurricular classes in physical education are one of the forms of engaging students in systematic physical exercises, which helps to preserve and strengthen their health, as well as active leisure and active recreation. The raised problem can be further studied in the direction of organizing and conducting extracurricular classes on step aerobics with the aim of increasing the motor activity of students of primary and secondary schools.
