Abstract:

Academic dishonesty or academic fraud is a global problem for higher education institutions across the educational space. More than half of those seeking education commit unscrupulous acts in order to obtain a higher grade during their studies at institutions of higher education. At the same time, academic fraud leads to a number of negative consequences for both higher education institutions and society in general. In Ukraine, for violation of academic integrity, students of education may be held to the following academic responsibility: expulsion from the institution of higher education (the exception is persons who are at the stage of obtaining general secondary education); repeated assessment of knowledge (credit, exam, control work, etc.); repeating a certain component of the educational program; depriving the student of an academic scholarship; depriving the student of education benefits provided by the institution of higher education. The types of academic responsibility for violations of academic integrity by students of education (including detailed or additional) are determined by the internal regulations of the educational institution, special laws approved in the institution of higher education by the main collegial governing body and agreed in a mandatory manner with the relevant bodies of self-government of students of education in part of their responsibility. In Ukrainian institutions of higher education, every student of higher education, in relation to whom the issue of violation of academic integrity is considered, has the rights disclosed in the article. The main areas of work are recommended for the purpose of introducing and observing the principles of academic integrity in institutions of higher education. The main measures of combating academic dishonesty among those seeking education are highlighted. Academic integrity is an indicator of society’s development. The main positions of the implementation of the policy of academic integrity of higher education applicants in Ukraine have been clarified. In Ukrainian institutions of higher education, every student of higher education, in relation to whom the issue of violation of academic integrity is considered, has the rights disclosed in the article. The main areas of work are recommended for the purpose of introducing and observing the principles of academic integrity in institutions of higher education. The main measures of combating academic dishonesty among those seeking education are highlighted.
