Abstract:
Children have an extremely high need for physical activity, which must be met. Movement plays a crucial role in their health and proper development, so it is important to provide them with appropriate opportunities, taking into account their interests and talents. Most children eagerly engage in various active physical activities both on weekdays and weekends, but they also enjoy other types of leisure and relaxation.
Physical education classes and active games offer numerous opportunities for learning. As previously mentioned, physical education helps foster a desire and love for sports. Both physical education and active leisure-time movement activities have numerous positive effects on childrenphysically, socially, and mentally. Research has shown that children enjoy physical education classes.
However, the amount of time spent on phones and watching TV is increasing, which can have many harmful consequences. Based on this, it can be stated that modern children face various challenges in how they spend their free time.
The study also touches on many aspects of the parent-child relationship. Parents can help foster a desire for physical activities and sports in their children by supporting them-playing together, taking walks, or traveling. All these outdoor activities contribute positively.
Leisure activities play a key role in helping children understand the world around them while simultaneously developing their social skills and physical abilities. One of the key features of modern education systems is that schools are increasingly involved in all areas of children’s lives and, in this context, offer broad opportunities for meaningful leisure activities.
The research presents the results of a survey conducted among 4th-grade students in the Pyiterfolvo Territorial Community of the Berehove District, examining their leisure habits. The survey provides interesting insights into how opportunities for meaningful leisure are realized in accordance with age-specific characteristics. The best forms of leisure are those that are entertaining and engaging for the child while also offering valuable educational experiences and opportunities for development.
