Abstract:
The article is devoted to the problem of updating the content of foreign language professional training for future environmental designers based on the principle of interdisciplinary integration.
The analysis of relevant scientific and pedagogical literature has been conducted. The article aims to analyse the updating of the content of foreign language professional training of future environmental designers based on the principle of interdisciplinary integration as a pedagogical condition for the formation of their foreign language professional competence. It has been proven that content and language integrated learning is an effective strategy for interdisciplinary integration of a foreign language course with disciplines, primarily of a professional orientation, in the system of professional training of future designers of the environment.
The essence of content and language integrated learning lies in teaching a subject through a foreign language and, conversely, in teaching a foreign language through the subject itself. Its key characteristic is the duality of subject content and foreign language, where language is used as a means of knowing content, and content is used as a resource for learning the language. Given this specificity, content and language integrated learning is an integrated form of mastering both disciplines simultaneously, with the possibility of shifting the focus towards the first or second if there is such a need.
Updating the content of foreign language teaching for future environmental designers based on interdisciplinary integration as one of the important pedagogical conditions for the successful formation of their foreign language professional competence involves ensuring close interdisciplinary connections in the system of their training. It presupposes the use of situational and communicative topics, compiled on the basis of an analysis of the content of disciplines of a professional orientation and taking into account the modern realities of professional communication of environmental design specialists, a text library of English-language, information materials selected from professional scientific, journalistic, reference sources, and a set of practical tasks of a linguistic, communicative, professional nature developed on their basis.
Keywords: higher education, training of future bachelors, specialists in Environmental design, foreign language for specific purposes, foreign language professional competence of an environmental designer, Content and Language Integrated Learning, interdisciplinary integration, foreign language professional training.
