Abstract:
The article examines contemporary design education, which is undergoing profound changes under the influence of digital transformation that encompasses all areas of social and professional life, including the educational process. It is noted that in the digital age, the requirements for designers’ professional competencies are significantly increasing: they must combine creative thinking with digital skills. This necessitates a rethinking of the content and structure of their professional training. Traditional teaching methods prove to be insufficiently flexible, which stimulates the search for new educational formats and pedagogical strategies.
The relevance of the study is explained by three key factors: the transformation of the professional profile of designers; the active implementation of innovative formats in design education; the intensification of global competition in the educational services market.
The scientific problem lies in identifying the impact of digital transformation on the content, structure, and formats of design education. Analyzing these changes makes it possible to highlight effective pedagogical strategies that ensure the competitiveness of graduates in the field of modern design project work.
A review of recent research shows that the digitalization of education has attracted significant attention from scholars. In particular, in the design field, there is a growing interest in innovative technologies, digital platforms, and interdisciplinary approaches. However, the national academic community still requires a systematic generalization of international experience and the development of methodological recommendations for adapting educational programs to the conditions of digital development.
As a result, it was found that digital transformation involves not only the use of new tools (cloud services, VR, 3D modeling, AI), but also a profound rethinking of the organization of learning, the role of the teacher, and assessment methods. The integration of digital competencies, including UI/UX, motion design, AI tools, AR/VR, rapid prototyping, and collaborative online work, makes design education more flexible, personalized, and aligned with the demands of the modern labor market.
The key advantages of digital transformation lie in the accessibility, effectiveness, and innovativeness of education, as well as in enhancing the competitiveness of graduates. The practical outcomes of the study serve as a basis for developing adaptive educational programs and recommendations for training contemporary designers in the digital era.
