Abstract:

The article is devoted to the issue of the influence of choral performance on the formation of national self-consciousness of the individual. It is determined that choral singing is the most effective means of forming national feelings of the individual due to the awareness of its identity with the nation. The author provides an overview of the main concepts of national selfconsciousness.

The article determines the role of choral singing in the formation of national self-consciousness of the individual, through the disclosure of the creative sides of the individual - ideological, intellectual, aesthetic and emotional, reveals the tasks of artistic, in particular, national education, which consists in awakening and developing interest in patriotism.

The author highlights the views of domestic scientists on the specified problem, determines the essence of the interpretation of the concept of «national self-consciousness» and actualizes the role of national self-consciousness at the current stage of transformations of Ukrainian society. each phenomenon, in the development of an independent evaluative approach to it.

The study emphasizes the importance of choral singing in the development of the components of a person’s national identity and raises the issue of using the best examples of choral music by Ukrainian composers who turned to the famous poetry of Ukrainian writers and poets in the process of mastering choral art.

The development of national identity can be divided into the following stages: the first – early ethnic self-awareness, the second – national and patriotic self awareness, and the third – state and patriotic self-awareness.

Let us defined the criteria for the formation of national identity at the cognitive, emotional and value, and activity-practice levels. It is noted that choral music reflects the dynamics of Ukrainian culture, embodying philosophical, religious, and moral views of society on a particular historical period. Influencing the human consciousness, it forms emotional and values, ideals, moral principles, and way of life.
