Abstract:
The article studies the effectiveness of innovative artistic and pedagogical practices in forming primary school students’ professional orientation. The author considers the potential of fine and decorative-applied arts as an effective tool for broadening primary school students’ understanding of the world of professions, developing their creative abilities, and identifying inclinations toward certain types of artistic activities.
The age-related characteristics of primary school students are considered. The importance of targeted influence on forming interests and inclinations already in primary school is emphasized by using art to correspond to their natural curiosity, emotionality, and need for active artistic activity.
The integration of the elements of career guidance content into art lessons is proposed, with several directions of such integration outlined: thematic planning (including content and tasks related to professions in the field of arts into art lessons); using artworks (analyzing paintings, sculptures, architectural structures, etc., which provides information about the work of artists); designing creative mini-projects related to specific professions; involving in artistic-practical activities (performing tasks that simulate professional activities); interactive methods and technologies (virtual tours of museums, production facilities, art workshops; online games, quizzes, etc.).
The author focuses on an essential component of forming students’ professional orientation – extracurricular artistic activities: art and decorative-applied art clubs and studios (painting, graphics, sculpture, ceramics, embroidery, pysanka art, etc.), exhibitions of children’s artworks, excursions to enterprises, meetings with representatives of creative professions, and games. It is concluded that the identified forms and methods allow primary school students to familiarize themselves with different artistic materials and techniques for creating artistic and creative products, contributing to developing their creative potential and familiarizing them with various types of artistic activity.
The author provides an example of an art project through which students get acquainted with a creative profession and immerse themselves in different types of artistic activity (perceiving and discussing artworks, studying the creativity of famous artists, virtually visiting art exhibitions or museums, creating their own compositions, and organizing an art exhibition).
The article holds practical significance for primary school teachers, methodologists, lecturers of pedagogical institutions, and anyone interested in early career guidance for children through art.
