Abstract:
In the article, the author considers the role of rhythm in the development of coordination and motor abilities of younger schoolchildren.
The author proves that a noticeable decrease in physical activity of younger schoolchildren negatively affects their somatic development and general health, and to solve this problem, it is advisable to introduce such types of artistic activity as rhythm and choreography into the educational process. It is in the younger school age, when the plasticity of the nervous system and the child’s motor apparatus is most pronounced, such classes can contribute not only to the formation of correct posture and the development of coordination of movements, but also to the general improvement of the body, the prevention of diseases of the musculoskeletal system and the formation of healthy habits, etc.
To develop the coordination and motor abilities of younger schoolchildren, the author offers an author’s program on rhythmics for students of pedagogical colleges, the purpose of which is to master the content and methodology of working with children in the field of rhythmic and aesthetic education using the means of choreographic art, which includes theoretical and practical knowledge of the basics of rhythmics and choreography.
The author believes that work on rhythmics is built on the basis of various movements, such as walking, running and various kinds of jumps with observance of the correct position of the body during movement and braking; throwing (mainly work with balls), which contributes to the development of coordination and strength; gymnastic (generally developing) exercises with and without objects that train different muscle groups; dance movements – dances and games that develop plasticity, grace and artistry, etc.
Keywords: rhythmics, choreography, coordination, dance exercises, dance movements, younger schoolchildren.
