Abstract:
In connection with globalization and demographic changes, adult education is becoming increasingly important in modern society, as similar social mechanisms operate in different countries that determine the participation of adult education and the connection of this participation with labor market results. But mainly those who are already highly educated and occupy a fairly advantageous position in the labor market increase their education, which acts as a mechanism for increasing social inequality. This is especially noticeable in relation to the widespread informal education in all countries, which is organized at the expense of employers.
The problem of adult education is given significant attention in the educational policy of developed countries. It is considered as a mechanism for achieving sustainable economic development, guaranteeing civic progress and a democratic structure of public life; as a manifestation of society’s responsibility for the formation of human and social capital, which is a key element of the modern knowledge society. Recently, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of relevant educational institutions and organizations that are directly involved in the problems of adult education. The idea of adult education is guided by such international organizations as UNESCO, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), OOH, etc.
One of the newest forms of work with the elderly is the provision of a socio-pedagogical service called «University of the Third Age», which can be considered as one of the modern forms of social integration of the elderly. The article analyzes information on international relations in the development of the adult education system in different countries of the world. It is found that all countries invest financial resources in the development of adult education. Courses and centers are organized for adult education, which supplement previously acquired knowledge at different levels or provide professional training without separation from production or with separation from production. Universities and colleges also have advanced faculties in the form of evening and correspondence studies.
Scientists attach great importance to formal adult education. The article spells out the main patterns regarding participation in formal adult education.
Keywords: adult education, international space, higher education, international organizations, «University of the Third Age», international relations in the development of the adult education system.
