Abstract:
The article emphasizes the growing importance of soft skills in higher music education, which scientists associate with such educational trends as globalization and rapid progress in all branches of science and various spheres of society. Today puts forward new requirements for specialists in creative, namely musical, specialties: to remain competitive in any situation, musicians must constantly acquire new skills, which requires flexibility, a positive attitude to lifelong learning and education, and the development of such personal qualities as hard work, perseverance, and discipline.
The article provides examples of hard skills, including: performing, musicological, arranging, conducting and singing skills. Soft skills are also provided - purposefulness, discipline, selfimprovement, self-development, introspection, the desire to learn throughout life, reflection and others.
It is found that the process of forming and developing these skills should be continuous, which requires the applicant to have formed motivation, purposefulness and the desire for selfimprovement.
The latest research data on the attitude of employers to the formation of soft skills of young specialists, which they consider as basic compared to professional ones, are analyzed. The research shows the decisive place of soft skills, which should be formed in general education school and continued to develop in higher education.
