The purpose of the article is to highlight the content characteristics of emotional intelligence and the way it develops in older adolescents in the process of artistic and educational activities.
The study uses the methods of theoretical and methodological analysis, synthesis, abstraction, specification, etc. The practical significance of the study is to highlight methodological and practical aspects of the psychological program for the development of emotional intelligence in older adolescents through music therapy. The main objectives of the program are: to provide theoretical information about the meaning and role of emotional experiences of the individual, the content and components of emotional intelligence; to implement music therapy exercises to relieve emotional and psychological stress and achieve catharsis in the process of artistic and creative activity, eliminate psychophysiological blocks, and liberate behavioral oppression; development of the ability to manage both one’s own emotions and the emotions of others; development of creativity and creative activity.
The methodological basis for building the content of the psychological program is based on the following approaches: sanogenic, complementary, hedonistic, communicative, socio-cultural and introspective. The psychological program is implemented in two stages: I - providing theoretical information on the nature and content of emotional intelligence, II - conducting music therapy training on the development of emotional intelligence.
The exercises of music therapy training include: the ritual of beginning and ending the lesson; musical and rhythmic presentation of oneself with saying one’s name; rhythmic dance activities; vocal improvisation; singing affirmations; musical and game activities; playing musical instruments; musical relaxation, etc. The introduction of a psychological program for the development of emotional intelligence through music therapy in the artistic and educational process will contribute to the emotional stabilization of students, the release of their suppressed negative emotional experiences and the accumulation of positive emotions in a socially acceptable way through artistic creativity.
