Abstract:
The article examines digitization as one of the key factors in modernizing education. It is noted that digital technologies are increasingly permeating various aspects of the educational process, with the assumption that their role will continue to grow annually.
It has been established that digital technologies enable active learning, making education accessible to individuals with physical and other limitations. These technologies contribute to the individualization (personalization) of learning by adapting materials to the cognitive abilities, pace of work, preferences, and knowledge level of each learner. They also facilitate the visualization of educational content, enhancing its comprehension and assimilation. The use of e-learning saves time spent commuting to educational institutions. Modern digital educational platforms allow for the automation of assessment processes, provision of feedback, tracking and storing learning histories, and offering detailed analytics on learner progress to support the adjustment of educational strategies.
Digital technologies provide access to informational resources such as libraries and databases, while fostering collaboration between educational and research institutions. Moreover, the integration of digital technologies into education contributes to the development of digital competence.
The article outlines initiatives by the European Union and Ukraine aimed at fostering the development of digital skills among citizens. However, researchers point out that despite efforts to promote digitization and enhance legislation, the current level of digitization in Ukraine still lags behind that of EU countries.
It is highlighted that for many countries worldwide, digital transformations across various sectors are a priority, necessitating the development of digital skills. In this context, frameworks for digital competence have been established to raise awareness of the state and trends in the implementation of digitization within society.
The prospects for further research lie in studying the specific features of implementing digital educational technologies in European countries.
