Teaching Fellow

Significance of a Teaching Fellow

I have been a Teaching Fellow (TF) for 1 year but last fall I was a TF Assistant where I helped out with creating presentations and taught some of the lessons.

As a full member of the TF team, I have become more confident and comfortable with presenting in front of an audience. I thoroughly learned how to create a lesson from scratch and had fun creatively planning ways to teach my lessons.

The practice I got during my Friday 10 am AAMP sections is what allowed me to work towards creating a workshop with my peers.

During the semester, I presented a workshop called "Baddies Include Everyone: Deconstructing AAPI/NHPI/APIDA Labels" at the Midwest Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Student Union (MAASU) Leadership Summit. Our presentation informed students about what the labels are, how they are used and ways in which we can be more inclusive when using these labels.

It was an enlightening experience and my experience as a TF definitely played a part in my ability to achieve that.
