Mrs. Gerovac's Math Class

Course Descriptions

7th Grade Overview

This year in 7th grade, we will focus on math topics such as solving equations, using ratios and proportions, discussing probability, and constructing geometric shapes. For the most part, we will be following the 7th grade curriculum lined out in Big Ideas Math Red Book. We will also be using ALEKS, which is an online artificial intelligence math program that allows lessons to be completely personalized to each student and their own individual needs. Students will be asked to have their Chromebook, a pencil, and a calculator each day. I would suggest purchasing a TI-30 calculator for your child to have for this year and the next, but I will always have spares in my room for students to use as well.

7th Grade Accelerated Math

Accelerated Math students will be working on everything that other seventh graders will learn, but will also learn additional topics as well. By being in accelerated math, these students will be prepared to take Algebra as an eighth grader. This class will move at a faster pace in order to accomplish everything we need to get through during the school year. Additional topics students will learn include: graphing linear equations, performing geometric transformations, and using exponent rules to simplify expressions including scientific notation.

About Me

This will be my fifth year teaching middle school mathematics, my second of which teaching at Union Grove! I recently got married this past summer, so you may still hear people calling me Ms. Weiser, as they are still getting used to my new last name!

When I am not teaching math, you can probably find me watching sports of all kinds, baking sweets and treats in my kitchen, playing with my dog Sonny, or enjoying anything Disney!
