Meet the State Specialized Agent in Natural Resources
Dr. Shelly Johnson, Ph.D., is a State Specialized Agent (SSA) in natural resources. She is faculty at the University of Florida in the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) Extension as an Extension Agent III (permanent status/tenured) and the Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation as Affiliate Assistant Professor.
Her primary expertise is broadly in ecology and conservation of vertebrate terrestrial wildlife in forest ecosystems. Her research also includes evaluation of ecosystem services and social value of wildlife. She aims to create attitude and behavior change towards wildlife and habitat conservation.
Shelly provides leadership for statewide extension efforts in natural resource conservation and management, developing, delivering, and evaluating science-based programs. She serves as an expert resource and point-of-contact for the public outside the University as well as county and state faculty at the University of Florida.
