OVERVIEW
I am in my 5th year of my Ph.D. My research focus is high-precision optical physics. I believe in the idea that 'The scientist is not a person who gives the right answers, but one who asks the right questions.' – Claude Lévi-Strauss.
Education
Bachelor of Science at The Arab American University, Jenin, Palestine.
Master of Science at Miami University, Ohio, USA.
Research Interests
I work in the field of gravitational wave detections on the ground. Currently, I'm working on the Laser Intereferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO). My focus has been mostly on alignment sensing and control. In the lab, I work on studying an alternative alignment scheme using electro-optic beam deflectors, and I compare that with the currently used technique, wavefront sensing.
I also work on simulating the thermal effects on the high power laser beam on the optics at the LIGO Hanford site. The focus is on understanding the cold state of the interferometer, typically at 2W input power.
