Poultry Breeds
Poultry is a special category where it includes chickens, ducks, turkeys, guinea, and other fowl. This section will cover a few of the various types of poultry and their breeds. Click on the breed pictures below to learn about their characteristics, origins, and more!
Chicken Breeds
There are over 60 different breeds of chickens that are recognized by the American Poultry Association (APA). Any breed that is recognized by the APA can be shown at the fair.
Standard-sized breeds are grouped by type or by place of origin; bantam breeds are classified according to type or physical characteristics. Standard breeds are classified into American, Asiatic, Continental, English, and Mediterranean. As well as All Other Standard Breeds (AOSB) which include Oriental, Game, and Miscellaneous. Bantams are categorized into Modern Game, Game, Single Comb Clean Legged (SCCL), Rose Comb Clean Legged (RCCL), Feather Legged, All Other Comb Clean Legged (AOCCL).

Turkey Breeds
You may have heard of Heritage Breeds before. What that means is over time, after many years of selective breeding there are breeds of livestock animals that are more resistant to harsh environments. There are eight breeds of turkeys recognized by the APA. They are:
Waterfowl Breeds
Waterfowl includes all birds that are based in the water. There are 30 breeds that are comprised of both ducks and geese recognized by the APA. Here's a few of them:
