Project Problem/Question/Issue:

Delaware’s trends in diabetes and obesity are poor relative to the rest of the country. Recently, “soda taxes” have been proposed and begun to be implemented as a duel strategy to both increase government revenues and address a serious population health problem.

Requested Deliverable:

A policy analysis (2-3 page memo) and oral presentation (30 minutes) to answer the following:

• Should Delaware implement a soda tax?
• What revenues could be anticipated and what should these new revenues accomplish from a programmatic perspective?
• What issues could arise during policy development and implementation, if any?
