Restorative justice practices are alternatives to traditional disciplinary practices in K-12 educational settings, aimed at resolving conflict and empowering students in the short-term, and stemming the school-to- prison pipeline for at-risk students in the longer-term. What are schools currently doing with respect to discipline within the state? How have other places sought to implement restorative justice programs? What have been their impacts and experiences? Does using a restorative justice approach improve school climate, school attendance or test scores? What types of restorative justice techniques are most frequently used in schools? What recommendations would be appropriate for Delaware to move in this direction? How much might it cost?
