Classroom:
Our first day in the classroom we met three of our beloved professors, Professor Morris; Professor Sooh, and our TA Connor. We were also introduced to some of our CAs, Aiden, Jiaen, and Leo. Our class studies the history of computers and its seemingly infinite existence within our lives. We covered the foundations of some of these computers through python print statements, if/else statements, and variables.
Lab:
During our first lab session, we were put into pairs to collaborate for the rest of the week. We worked to send emails through code by importing smptl in order to utilize its functions.

Our first full day at COSMOS brought many of us together and we were able to learn the names of our classmates to enjoy their company. We enjoyed lunch and dinner together at Café Ventanas then ended the day with some sports and other activities. Some Cluster members participated in canvas painting where they let their artistic skills shine. The day ended with suite time with our floor RA's and suitemates.

Classroom:
On our second day in the classroom, we started off the day with a Zoom meeting with an ethics professor that introduced the ethics contest to us. Conner helped us out with brainstorms and video ideas such as podcasts to give us some propulsion into our research.
Lab:
We started on lab 2 which stemmed from the first email lab. We learned and utilized about functions and for loops to help automate emails to multiple people. We also met Parham, one of our other CAs today.

Today we realized that the walk to campus is a lot more taxing than we originally thought. A couple COSMOS members ran in the morning, and were sore later on in the day. It is group consensus that the breakfast hash browns are the best choice in the mornings. The afternoon programs brought us to Target where we could pick up any essentials that were forgotten. Some Cluster 1 members bought snacks and bottles of water, although others unsuccessful in finding their favorite drinks. Room fans were the most popular item to purchase as it gets a little warm inside of the dorms. Other activities included slime making and beach volleyball.

Classroom:
On our third day in the classroom, we learned about nested loops and Professor Sooh introduced us to HTML (HyperText Markup Language) we learned about certain tags and attributes that would be important to our third lab.
Lab:
We finished our previous labs and got started with web scraping text from Wikipedia pages. By incorporating our knowledge on HTML tags and attributes, we successfully printed text in our terminals.

The COSMOlympics are upon us and our RA, Darren was trying to organize a plan for our our skit. Together, we brainstormed the idea of a Hacker Wizard skit (walk with us here), where our main characters discover how lucky they are to have access to modern technology. We then began designing our props and assigning roles for our performance. The night ended with a COSMOS karaoke night, polaroid decorating (hosted by our RA Darren!), ice cream cookie sandwiches, and coaster bejeweling.

Classroom:
We started the day off by listening to a Zoom meeting about how to access UCSD's digital library and database. We then proceeded to walk to the Geisel Library and explored a few floors before finally settling on 2nd floor. Working from the group study area, we all made significant progress on our ethics projects.
Lab:
Finishing up our mini projects, we sought help from our cluster RAs. The majority of us successfully sent emails using Python to our corresponding recipients. Our final assignment was to make slides based on our coding process and what we encountered, the least stressful part.

Final touches were being made to our assorted props for the COSMOlympics this afternoon. Members finished painting their props and began practicing for our skit. We are very excited to showcase our hard work tomorrow afternoon! Tonight's activities included T-Shirt designing, friendship bracelets, more painting, and dodgeball.
