Kate Antonovics is an economist and educator working to connect scholarship with real-world challenges.
As the inaugural Provost of UC San Diego’s Seventh College, Antonovics helps advance the College’s mission to empower students with the skills needed to address the challenges of a changing planet and to build a fun, supportive, and welcoming educational community.
Antonovics is also a Teaching Professor in the Department of Economics. She is well-known for her excellence in teaching and has won multiple university-wide teaching awards. She is also a co-author of the widely used textbook Principles of Economics.
Antonovics’ research examines racial and gender discrimination, affirmative action, intergenerational mobility, learning, and wage dynamics. Her work has been published in leading journals including The American Economic Review, The Review of Economics and Statistics, and The Journal of Labor Economics. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin.
