The clock project is trying to teach you how to use AutoCAD, Fusion, and Working Model 2D while teaching the class about fabrication and rapid prototyping. The clock project also helped teach how to use point-mass analysis, inertial analysis, and simulations to get experimental results. One challenge I faced was learning how to set the different layers in AutoCAD.
To get predictions for the oscillations of the pendulum, there were many forms of analysis used such as point mass analysis, inertial analysis, and 2D simulation analysis. Point mass analysis was used to treat the entire pendulum and the screws as multiple points to simplify the analysis for the oscillation period. Inertial analysis was used for a more accurate reprsentation of the pendulum's swing. Finally, WorkingModel2D was used to give the most accurate depiction of the pendulum's motion and a graph was given and the oscillation period was taken from that.
