Electrophysiology, or the recording of electrical activity from nervous systems, is the bread and butter of neuroscience.
In this course, you'll listen in to the chatter of neurons, fibers, and muscles in multiple creatures. Check out the labs on the right.
At the end of this module, you'll be able to
- Relate principles of electric circuits to the properties of single neurons & neural circuits
- Describe the process of an action potential & the types of communication between neurons
- Identify the common tools used to record electrical signals from neural tissue, as well as the experimental and statistical tools used to analyze such data
- Record both extracellular and intracellular signals from living cells
- Design an experiment to test a hypothesis about neural communication
