Neuroscience is getting bigger, and coding skills will serve you in this field and beyond. You don't need to know how to code to succeed in BIPN 145, but it helps to be open to learning a few things about it. This course will give you the tools to be able to ask your own questions of big, open data sets, such as those made available through the Allen Brain Observatory.

At the end of this module, you'll be able to:

• Explain research approaches with viruses, imaging, and transgenic mouse lines
• Appreciate the diversity of cell types and brains areas in mammalian brains
• Develop basic coding skills to manipulate large scale datasets
• Excavate and analyze data from web-based open source anatomical and functional datasets
