About

I'm a fourth year PhD candidate in the Bernardi Lab at UC Santa Cruz. I did my Bachelor's at UC San Diego where I studied Marine Biology and was mentored by Erica Jarvis Mason in the Semmens Lab. I was born and raised in San Gabriel, CA. If I'm not in the lab or at my computer, I'm probably wading around an estuary or beach somewhere!

People often ask me, "how did you know you wanted to study marine science"? As silly as it sounds, one of my earliest memories was getting lost at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA when I was 5 years old. I was completely entranced with the fish and wandered away from my family. This is when my parents had their first inkling that I had a passion for fish that exceeded most peoples’. My parents always encouraged me to follow my passions ... now here we are!
