We follow the UCR COVID return protocols.
If you have a recent positive COVID test result, are experiencing COVID symptoms, were recently exposed to someone with COVID, or are reporting a mandatory COVID test result, please use Covid Screening Check and follow the guidance. (Updated 3/28)
If the Covid Screening Check advises you to isolate, it will generate a COVID Awareness Letter via Student Health Services for you to share with the instructor. Please attach this letter to an email to Prof. Tanedo to let him know you will be unable to attend lecture.
If the Daily Wellness Check advises you to test for COVID, the campus suggests getting tested on campus since those testing sites have quick turnaround and automatically updates Student Health Services and the COVID Management Team.
The COVID Management Team conducts investigations of positive cases and takes care of notifying instructors and close contacts of any positive cases.
Prof. Tanedo will post lecture notes and may attempt to use Zoom to livestream lectures when students are isolating. Unfortunately this is an imperfect system; students are encouraged to follow up with peers and do the suggested background reading.
You may choose to ask to have a colleague in lecture to connect on Zoom to keep an eye on any questions you may want to ask in the chat box.
The learning in the class occurs at the intersection of reading the textbooks, doing problems, asking questions & discussing the material, and the time spent interacting in lecture. Missing some lectures means you should put extra effort in the other components of the course to compensate.
A strong suggestion:
Do not ask instructors: "Did I miss important?"
Do ask your peers: "What were the key take aways from the discussions in lecture that do not show up in the lecture notes or the book?"
